NOLF 2 Linux Server has arrived!

On May 25, 2006, a version of the "No One Lives Forever 2" Stand Alone Server (SAS) was created for use with Linux. The retail version of the game's server is incompatible with a recent version of Wine on Linux. Through the use of the NOLF 2 Toolkit, a programmer was able to modify the game server code such that the normal incompatiblites that the game presented within linux would no longer exist. The most exciting prospect for the new server is that it no longer depends on MS Windows or Apple Mac OS in order to run. This will definitely lower the cost of owning a dedicated NOLF 2 server. The testing of the modified NOLF 2 server took place on a Linux box running Debian 3.1 revision 2 and Wine 9.13 . The modified NOLF 2 and Contract J.A.C.K. server executables are free to download at AgentArcher.com . In order to run the server, files from a fully licensed retail version of the game are required. A set of instructions were also written for getting the original version of NOLF up and running on Linux as well. On July 7, 2006, AgentArcher.com will open its doors to fans of the "No One Lives Forever" (NOLF) series of games. This website is dedicated to the development and modification of the NOLF games using the toolkits that were provided by Monolith Productions. The site offers a central location for anyone who is interested in developing the games and in teaching others to develop as well. AgentArcher.com recognizes the importance of solid code programming as well as content art and story development. Each facet of the NOLF series makes it a game worth developing. The toolkits can require a bit of a learning curve to understand, so free-lance developers need a central location to share information.
